Police arrest man, 21, on suspicion of false imprisonment after car is filmed driving onto Brands Hatch circuit during the middle of a race
Jack Cottle drove his girlfriend's VW Polo onto the famous Brands Hatch track in Kent as racing cars sped past. The prank was filmed by his friend, who was passenger, and posted online. Police have since arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of false imprisonment.
The young driver who was filmed driving his friends onto the circuit said 'People are blowing it out of all proportion. It was something out of the ordinary. You only live once and I live every day like its my last. Now I'm getting slated for being different.'
In the video, Cottle, from the Tonbridge area of Kent, is heard being ordered by his hysterical girlfriend, who is sat next to him in the front passenger seat, to stop and get off the track. He chooses to ignore her pleas and continues to drive around a section of the race circuit in the VW Polo, laughing and joking.
There was a Volkswagen Fun Day held at Brands Hatch on Saturday where Specially-adapted VW Beetles can clearly be seen on the video zooming past the 'boy racer’s' vehicle
The footage on YouTube has been viewed nearly 100,000 times online.
Jacks girlfriend makes several grabs for the wheel and at one point even says 'Jack, if you care about me, please just stop, I don’t like it. You’re going to crash my car.'
Eventually he finds an exit lane and leaves the track telling his friends to say "they got lost" if asked
